Day 32 Genesis 28 v 10-22 Jacob's Dream

Genesis 28 v 10-22 Jacob's Dream
(Click the link to get to the passage)

Jacob is a man who had his character flaws. He suffered with feelings of inadequacy because his Father loved his brother Esau more than him, he was a deceiver (the literal meaning of his name) and cheated his brother out of his birthright – his father’s blessing. Jacob then has to flee and leave his family in fear of his life. Jacob is on that journey when he stops for the night. There he has an encounter with God which shapes his life and destiny as God reaffirms his promise of blessing and the promise of the land on which he is sleeping to his descendants.

All of us struggle with our own character flaws just as Jacob did. But God didn’t wait until they were all sorted before encountering him or speaking his words of promise and destiny over him. Of course, he didn’t let him stay in that place of flawed character but it didn’t stop God from using him whilst the Lord was working on his character.

God doesn’t wait until we’re perfect to use us. He doesn’t wait until we’re perfect to bless us or call us into our destiny. Take time today to thank Jesus for his grace and love for you. Give him space to meet with you today and allow him to reaffirm his blessing and calling on your life.

Most merciful God,
who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ
delivered and saved the world:
grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross
we may triumph in the power of his victory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
